Join With South Korean Activists To Protect Dogs And Cats

August 16, 2011

“The proof that one truly believes is in action.” (Bayard Rustin)

IDA’s partnership with the South Korean organization Korean Animal Rights Advocates (KARA) is proving to South Korean busbe very effective outreach for the dogs of South Korea.

With your donations, we are helping to fund a bus to travel the streets of Seoul during what is known as “the dog-eating days” in July and August. The bus is emblazoned with the slogan, “Tears of Boknal: Dogs are the same. There is no dog for meat,” The towering blue bus, bearing IDA’s logo, has officially launched and is making the rounds, accompanied by spirited activists, wearing matching blue T-shirts, holding banners and signs in a friendly march, with dogs joining their guardian advocates. The vibrant bus draws the attention of fascinated onlookers, who have been sending photos and tweeting, inspiring KARA to hold a promotion - “Take pictures of our bus!” and offering give-a-ways of books about homeless animals. Stay tuned for further updates.

South Korean activistsOur other ally within South Korea, Coexistence for Animal Rights on Earth (CARE), aside from its own dramatic actions during “Boknal” is making preparations to transform a vehicle purchased with the help of IDA into a large rescue van to travel the country, coming to the aid of dogs and cats in South Korea.

So your donations to IDA's South Korean Dog And Cat campaign are funding two vehicles - one for education, one for rescue.

The unbearable torment to which dogs and cats are subjected in South Korea is galvanizing advocates around the world to take action during our International Day of Action for South Korean Dogs and Cats. So far, we have actions planned in the U.S., Canada, South Africa, Australia, Ireland and of course, South Korea! If you would like be part of this international effort and take action with a peaceful protest, table or other educational event, please contact Hope at 707-540-1760 or hope@idausa.org.
