Take Action for Animals

In Defense of AnimalsSan Francisco - There is no winter break for animals at UCSF labs. Please join with your fellow IDA activists, Direct Action Everywhere, and other local animal advocates as we speak out against the cruel, wasteful, unnecessary animal experimentation at University of California, San Francisco. UCSF receives half a billion dollars a year in taxpayer funds for research, approximately half of which goes to animal experiments, involving almost one million animals. More than 100 violations of federal animal welfare laws and guidelines were recently exposed at UCSF, including failure to provide sufficient food and water and adequate pain relief to animals after invasive surgeries.

What: UCSF Vivisection Protest
When: Friday, December 20, 11:45 am – 1: 00 pm
Where: University of California, 513 Parnassus Ave., San Francisco

You can RSVP for this event here.

In Defense of AnimalsSan Francisco - Please join IDA activists, the grassroots animal liberation network Direct Action Everywhere (DxE), and other caring people as we take action for the 50 million animals who are killed for their fur every year at the DxE Freeze on December 21. We will meet at the location listed below to rehearse and then head to a San Francisco store that sells fur where we will freeze in our tracks outside of the store at a pre-arranged signal. As holiday shoppers walk through our mass of frozen activists, a speaker on a bullhorn will demand that animal-abusing corporations Stop Fur, Stop the Violence. Leafleters will distribute information on the cruelties of the fur industry and videographers will record the event.

What: DxE Freeze
When: Saturday, December 21, 11:00 am
Where: Yerba Buena Garden, 771 Mission Street, San Francisco

You can RSVP for this event here.

In Defense of AnimalsOceanside – Join with your fellow IDA and San Diego Animal Defense Team activists to protest Oceanside Puppy! "Pet" stores like Oceanside Puppy get animals from commercial breeding facilities, or puppy mills, where animals are imprisoned for life in cramped, filthy conditions and used as breeding machines until they can no longer reproduce. Three to four million animals die in American shelters every year because of the difficulty of finding enough good homes for them, and puppy mills play a huge role in this tragedy. We want to encourage the community to adopt rather than buy animal companions to break this cycle of suffering, misery, and death.

What: Oceanside Puppy Protest
When: Saturday, December 21, noon - 3:00 pm
Where: 1906 Oceanside Blvd, Oceanside

Please contact Denay to RSVP or if you have any questions.

In Defense of AnimalsSan Diego – Please join with your fellow IDA activists and other caring people for a holiday Sea World protest. Sea World and other amusement parks and aquariums imprison marine mammals in tiny, concrete, chlorinated swimming pools for their entire lives and force them to perform demeaning tricks in front of screaming crowds and blaring music. They suffer terribly in captivity and usually die decades before their wild counterparts. Marine mammals kept in amusement parks and aquariums have very little federal protection, and the few laws that do exist are often ignored. Please wear all black or all white attire for this event.

What: Sea World Protest
When: Sunday, December 22, 10:00 am – 1: 00 pm
Where: 500 Sea World Drive, San Diego
Meet at the corner of Sea World Drive and Sea World Way.
To park turn onto S. Shores Park off Friars Rd. Park in the boat ramp and walk about half a mile to demo location.

You can RSVP for this event here.

In Defense of AnimalsNevada City – Please join your fellow IDA activists and other caring people to urge consumers to shop cruelty-free this holiday season by avoiding fur. Each year over 50 million animals - including millions of dogs and cats - are killed for their fur worldwide. These animals are killed in extremely horrific ways including bludgeoning, neck-breaking and anal and genital electrocution, and many are skinned alive. This cruelty will only end when consumers refuse to buy or wear fur.

What: Nevada City Fur Protest
When: Sunday, December 22, 1:30 – 6:00 pm
Where: Fur Traders, 233 Broad St., Nevada City, CA

Banners, posters, and leaflets will be provided at each event. Please invite your friends and family to participate in these important actions!
