Tell Trump: Keep the Elephant Trophy Hunting Import Ban in Place!
Last week, the trophy hunting organization, Safari Club International, triumphantly announced that the U.S. Department of the Interior was planning to reverse the ban on elephant trophy imports from Zimbabwe and Zambia that the Obama Administration had put in place, clearing the way for US trophy hunters to kill elephants for sport and allowing them to bring their sickening "trophies" back home with them. We can't let this happen!
Stop Jordan's Barbaric War on Dogs!
We're outraged that Jordan's most senior religious leader has declared a "War on Dogs" by issuing a fatwa, which is a religious instruction to Muslims. As a result, an inhumane dog massacre is taking place that aims to exterminate every single street dog in the country. Take action now to stop this barbaric genocide and support the local activists who are fighting this unjust decree.
Promising News in Fight to Save America's Wild Horses & Burros
Early this week, leaders of the Senate Appropriations Committee moved to maintain existing protections for wild equines by approving the Senate's version of the 2018 Interior Department budget. The House-passed version of the budget authorizes both "euthanizing" or selling captive mustangs and burros for slaughter, as well as killing animals on the range that the BLM deems to be "excess." Mercifully, the Senate has not included these murderous plans proposed by the White House and the Interior Department.
Overcoming Compassion Fatigue to Gain Unimaginable Rewards

Virtually, we are in dozens of places at once, attuned to the vulnerability and suffering of animals and people all over the world. Impunity and dismissive attitudes about suffering—public gaps in empathy—increase the risk for this sort of vicarious trauma. Learn how to cultivate vicarious resilience in our webinar with physician, author, and advocate Hope Ferdowsian, MD, MPH.
