International Day of Action for Elephants in Zoos - June 20
IDA invites you to participate in the first International Day of Action for Elephants in Zoos (IDAEZ), a global event aimed at bringing attention to the plight of elephants in zoos, and ending their suffering. On Saturday, June 20, pro-elephant advocates will turn out en masse at their nearest zoos, holding outreach events and demonstrations to educate the public about the tragic effects of keeping elephants in small, impoverished zoo pens where they suffer and die. |

If You Only See One Movie This Year ... See The Cove!
IDA is a founding member of the Save Japan Dolphins Coalition, whose long-term campaign to end the slaughter of dolphins is integral to The Cove, a recent winner of the Sundance Film Festival. For many years, IDA has worked to expose the horrific dolphin "killing fields" in Japan. The tremendous success of The Cove is a groundbreaking development that just may lead to the end of this slaughter. Read the Daily Camera story and the Hollywood Reporter story, then call your nearest theater and ask them to book The Cove! E-mail these reviews to your friends to help generate more buzz! |

Puppy Mill Campaign Progressing, One Store At A Time
Thank you, IDA members, for joining with activists from many other animal protection organizations around the nation to protest puppy mills. In Los Angeles, the misnamed "Elite Animals" is feeling the pressure to stop contributing to pet overpopulation by peddling puppy mill puppies. Next week, hopefully we'll have progress to report. If not, we'll share details of the next demo! |
