New York Times Agrees With IDA: NIH Grant Funding System Flawed
IDA has previously revealed that the National Institutes of Health peer review grant funding system is broken. It perpetuates useless animal experiments, and constitutes an “old boys network.” IDA warned that $10 billion in stimulus money for the NIH was destined for a “black hole” of flawed oversight.
A powerful voice has now joined this criticism: the New York Times. A devastating front-page report, “Playing it Safe in Cancer Research,” by well-respected science reporter Gina Kolata found researchers complaining about many of the findings that IDA had exposed, with the common denominator that the complaints are coming from scientists themselves. |

Demos and other events are scheduled all around the world. And we're thrilled to inform our New York-area members that Golden Girl Rue McClanahan will be appearing at the New York event! In her e-mail informing us of her support, Ms. McClanahan told IDA: "I don't eat cats, I don't eat dogs, I don't eat members of my family."
