Support Nomination Of Cass Sunstein As "Regulatory Czar"
President Obama has nominated Harvard Law School Professor Cass R. Sunstein for Administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA). This position is commonly known as the "Regulatory Czar," since the office reviews every federal regulation issued across the government.
Professor Sunstein is a strong proponent of animal protection. He co-edited the 2004 anthology "Animal Rights: Current Debates & New Directions", which featured articles by pro-animal legal scholars and philosophers. He has argued for expanding the ability of people to sue on behalf of animals.
The pro-hunting community has launched a campaign to oppose Professor Sunstein's nomination, as have many other interest groups that abuse animals, such as the veal industry. Please use the form on this page to send your Senator an e-mail urging support for Professor Sunstein's nomination. Thank you! |

Support The Child Nutrition And WIC Reauthorization Act
Over the last decade the proportion of overweight children has more than doubled, and for adolescents (age twelve to nineteen) it more than tripled. The culprit is easy access to endless spoonfuls of sugar in soft drinks and mountains of calories in cheap, fat-dripping, processed foods. Type 2 diabetes, coronary disease, hypertension, and some cancers are associated with excess weight.
Please use the form on this page to send an e-mail to your Senators and Congressperson. Ask for federal policies to direct all schools to provide ample fruits and vegetables and make available a plant-based meal option every day. The new legislation should also award additional funding to schools that take extra steps to serve nutritious foods. These life-affirming changes could make all the difference in the health of future generations, as well as other species.

Speak Up For Horses - Omak Suicide Race Starts August 6
The Omak Suicide Race is the most disgusting part of the Omak Stampede, a rodeo held in a small town in eastern Washington since 1935. The race regularly and routinely kills horses. Just since 1984, there have been at least 20 documented horse deaths. Next Scheduled Cruelty: August 6 - 9, 2009.
After a galloping start, horses plunge over an almost vertical drop of about 225 feet. The horses do not realize where the ground is until it is rushing beneath them. They cannot see horses ahead of them. This is documented cruelty. See more photos here, write a few letters, make a few phone calls! |
