Together We Can Convince Nordstrom To Go Fur Free
Help us convince Nordstrom to go fur free! With 176 stores in 28 states, and with over FOUR BILLION DOLLARS IN SALES THIS YEAR, Nordstrom is one of the country’s foremost fashion retailers.
Nordstrom is perfectly positioned to make an ethical choice and be the first upscale department store to stop selling fur, leading the way for competition like Saks, Macy’s, and Neiman Marcus to follow suit. This fourth-generation family-run business has come a long way. They no longer have fur salons in their stores, and have removed fur from their private line. But they still do sell many items with real fur.
On Fur Free Friday, we'll re-launch our campaign to convince Nordstrom to do the right thing, and give up fur completely. Please join with us.

Athletes Getting Ready For World Go Vegan Week
Meet Mr. IDA, Kenneth G. Williams, professional vegan bodybuilder and spokesperson for IDA's vegan campaign. Kenneth is living proof that compassion is power, and that one doesn't need animal products to attain super-strength and exceptional health.
Ricardo Moreira is a vegan competing on the international Ultimate Fighting circuit. Also known as cage fighting, this extreme sport pits martial artists of all fighting styles against each other. Ricardo has a black belt in karate, in which he won a state title, and studies other martial arts, such as Aikido and Jiu Jitsu. He hopes setting a positive example will inspire more athletes to go vegan, and more vegans to stay physically fit.
Visit the World Go Vegan Week website to learn more about Kenneth, Ricardo, and other vegan athletes like cyclists Christine Vardaros and Fiona Oakes.
Time To Start Planning For Fur Free Friday - November 27
On Friday, November 27, join forces with activists around the world to educate shoppers about the real cost of fur. Help us mobilize more activists and plan more events than ever before to finally end the exploitation of other species for their fur. Post your event on our web site to enlist support from other IDA members in your area.
Over 50 million animals are mercilessly killed and skinned every year to make fur products. The victims are either raised in filthy, tiny wire cages for their entire miserable lives before being anally electrocuted or bludgeoned to death, or they are captured in the wild with cruel leghold traps and snares.
Fur Free Friday is observed the day after Thanksgiving. You can join an event in your area or we can help you plan one of your own. Please be sure to register your activity at the Fur Free Friday website so IDA can assist you in publicizing it. If you are interested in helping with an event in your area, please check our events page for updates.
IDA can provide event coordinators with anti-fur literature and posters, as well as video of fur farms and trapping to help you communicate your message more persuasively.
This year we're encouraging activists to hold demonstrations in front of Nordstrom. But if there's no Nordstrom near you, any fur retailer will do! |
